Hints of Truth

Most of us have two lives, the life we live and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.

Resistance is not a peripheral opponent. Resistance arises from within, it is self-generated and self-perpetuated. Resistance is the enemy within. It cannot be reasoned with. It understands nothing but power. It is an engine of destruction, programmed from the factory with one objective only: to prevent us from doing our work.

If you take resistance at its word you deserve everything you get. Resistance is always lying and always full of shit.

-Steven Pressfield, The War of Art-

Stop helping God across the road like a little old lady.
-U2-

The modern hero is the poor boy who purposefully becomes rich, rather than the rich boy who voluntarily becomes poor. Covetousness we call ambition; hoarding we call prudence; greed we call industry. We crave things we neither need nor enjoy. 'We buy things we do not want to impress people we do not like'.

-Richard Foster, Celebration of Discipline and 'Arthur G. Gish, Beyond the Rat Race'-

I saw God come in my garden
but I dont know what he said
for my heart was not open.

-Chris Martin, Coldplay-

If we don't want something in our lives our stories feel boring, long, meaningless and tired. We feel this way because we are sitting in the theater of our mind watching a story that isn't getting started. Or worse, we are praying and asking God to give us a story while the entire time God is handing us a pen, telling us to write it ourselves.

-Donald Miller-

We are spiritual beings having a physical experience.
-Bumper Sticker-

However, the most important thing is that there is no set "pattern" in my running, by design. That is intentional. I would rather let each new day's conditions and unique levels of fatigue dictate what I do than begin each and every week with a set-in-stone idea of what I want to accomplish.

Keep it simple. Cultivate activities that make you tick. Don't over think the details or the highs and lows, because tomorrow the mountain will always still be there, just waiting to be run up again.

-Anton Krupicka - The best runner I've ever heard of.

And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am the luckiest.

-Ben Folds- (Thanks Kyrie+Eric)

Evil flourishes when good men do nothing.

-Edmund Burke-

There is no use in walking anywhere to preach, unless your walking is your preaching.

- St. Francis- (thanks Ryan)
